PRESS BRIEFING

We demand an explanation from the secretary general of NRM.

  • We in TPP want to condemn the attitude and the language used by Hon. Amama Mbabazi while address people in Arua last week. Which was bordering to threatening to phase out FDC, if they don’t join the party inter party-co-operation.
  • It is very important for leaders to respect others and other parties. To us, this threat is not only to FDC but also to all political parties.
  • How can secretary General of a ruling party make such statement, is he warning us to fasten our belts as we are going back to UPC days of phasing out political parties.
  • Instead of preaching strengthening multiparty system, he is talking about phasing- out.
  • We appeal to all political parties to condemn that statement; especially condemnation should come from those that are in a wrong fellowship with NRM, in the inter-party co-operation.
  • Where are those who always claim to be champions of Democracy and the rule of Law? Why did they join NRM as it undermined the Law and the established National consultative forum? Why is the opposition quite? Why is the leader of the opposition Hon. Latigo silent on this serious matter?
  • Why is the shadow minister of Justice Hon. Lukwago quite, we don’t see a private Bill on this matter challenging the inter-party co-operation?
  • The wrong Prescription of Africa’s challenges:
  • It is unfortunate that most of African leaders take the consequences of Africa’s problems as the real challenge or bottlenecks as the real Africa’s problems; it is high time they speak the truth
  • As we in FIL have always submitted the Africa’s main challenge is leadership, the second main challenge is leadership; the third main challenge is leadership.
  • Leaders who lack integrity, the leaders who do want to leave power. That is the route of the problem.
  • How can you think of Transiting the Nations of Africa when even now, we still have leaders who can un ashamedly bribe a nation to change a constitution for them to stay in power .Leaders who cannot stand ideas from those they don’t agree with politically. Then they turn around and say that biggest resource a human being when you don’t use their ideas.
  • Yes there are bottlenecks, but not the ones you are submitting. The real ones are like the statement of Hon. Mbabazi to phase out other parties. So that one group stays in power.
  • How do you Transit Africa, when even the simple thing like an orderly and peaceful succession is almost not possible in many African countries.
  • Africa can not be helped by good speeches, no, but by the leaders who are practicing what they preach if for example you bring the first His Excellence President Museveni of 1986-2000 against His Excellence President Museveni of 2001 to date, not only would their disagree but I think the first Museveni would go back to bush. To try and challenge the last one.
  • Finally on the Juba talks.

We do appreciate and support the president to be involved in talk; our only worry is about his unreconciling language he always uses.

We want to appeal him, that as he moves to this talks, he is the only hope for Uganda we ask him not to forget that.

For God and My Country.

CHAIRMAN.
