PRESS BRIEF

1. Wondering about the crime solidarity.

It was astonishing to see the jubilant crowds as the suspects of GAVI money were released on court bail. It seems Ugandans have lost their sense of values. How can crowds move to congratulate someone who misappropriated their own funds? Who forged receipts and other documents only to be received from prison with a hero’s welcome?

Ugandans should change their attitude towards fighting corrupt leaders and have anew style of fighting it.

It is important for the public to send or communicate the right message. We should be cursing the corrupt leaders instead of blessing them. We should take them in a low esteem. It is even more worrying when Ministers parade in court to show their solidarity with their suspects. What does that mean? The same executive that has brought the suspects to court is the same executive standing them surelity. Who is fooling whom?

2 Serious allegation

This is a serious allegation from Olara Ottunu that there is a long standing

relationship (covert and overt) between the Museveni regime and LRA leadership. Otunnu wrote that it is now well documented that great facilitation has been at play for many years. These allegations are serious and the people of Uganda have taken them seriously. We therefore demand an explanation/position on this allegation from the Government of Uganda.
