PRESS BRIEF

AVOID CONFROTATION

  1. On the D.P rally as much as we are anxious to know the report of the death of the late Dr. Lutakome Kayira, we are only wondering why D.P is insisting on having a function on the constitutional square. We want to give our counsel to Democratic Party to avoid the politics of confrontation; we want to build this multiparty dispensation on different policies not wars. We want people of Uganda to continue living, working without any disturbance. Our interest is to challenge bad policies but we want a peaceful nation. We want to advise D.P please use another venue, avoid confusion for the sake of our people. Politics is not all that we need to live.

2. It is good news that finally Minister Buturo has paid the money. It is very important to fight corruption with all the might, but it is equally important to encourage and appreciate those who have repented and have proposed a restitution plan to be encouraged and not be harassed as Hon Mafabi’s committee is doing on Buturo. Let those who want to pay back do it without any other cost.

3. It was equally strange that the President’s address to the nation on New Year did include the most important points like corruption and selfishness amongst the Ugandan leaders which is cancer that is eating up our nation. It is undermining our economy, undermining our planning capacity, undermining development and completely retarding our efforts. We call upon the President to double his efforts and to change his policy on fighting corruption and corrupt leaders.
